Meet designer Cristina Bartl

Fashion designer Cristina Bartl is proof that a little hard work can go a long way. At just 25-years-old, she has managed to work with the most powerful names of the fashion industry—all while moving (several times) across the globe. Her hard work began when she first graduated from college— After graduating with honors from the IED Cristina was chosen among two hundred candidates to work for luxury Spanish brand, Loewe. 

Cristina eventually moved on to other work, and eventually found herself with not one, but three jobs: working in Loewe as a textile designer and graphic artist, designing logos and brand identity for young, fresh companies, and designing prints under petition. After a very busy few years working in all three jobs, she decided to take a leap of faith and started her own studio.

A year after launching her design studio she has accomplished a nice portfolio. You can find her designs in Zara, Asos, Pepe Jeans and Purificación García's shelves among others and enjoys a freedom to travel and explore new inspirations that always wanted.

Her designs, which heavily rely on her fresh use of color and bold patterns, are all over design blogs, in magazines, and taking over social media platforms like Pinterest. Everywhere we turn, Cristina's bright designs (and amazing pillows), are infusing life into rooms all over.

While she is best known as a textile designer, Cristina is also quite the world traveler. Currently residing in Majorca, this Barcelona-native has lived in a wide variety of beautiful and culturally diverse locations across the globe. While abroad, she picked up design inspirations that are clearly seen in her textile work. 

These internationally inspired patterns (including trellis' and chevron from Dubai, and fretworks and florals from Hong Kong), combined with Cristina's love of bright colors, create a versatile and sophisticated design that brings a modern pop-of-color to any look or space.

Estaba leyendo en fashionising como de nuevo se ha cambiado la perspectiva de la desnudez en el mundo de la moda. Hemos pasado por muchas fases, la desnudez sexual, la sensual y por último estamos viviendo lo que sepodría llamar la desnudez artística. El cuerpo se muestra desnudo pero no hay atisbo de provocación. Se observan (envidian) los cuerpos de los modelos del mismo modo que podríamos estar mirando al David.

Loewe

Éstas imágenes son de la última colección de Loewe. The Leather Icons y los exclusivísimos Made-to-order, las clásicas maletas de viaje, los bolsos perfectos y tan deseables.

Aunque como vegetariana estoy en contra del uso de cualquier tipo de piel en la vestimenta, tengo que reconocer que desde que trabajé para Loewe me quedé con una idea muy romántica de la firma.

Fue una temporada muy agradable, conocí gente genial, algunos que siguen ahí, y muchos que ya no... (la moda es así, no sé si hay algún sector que se mueva tanto como éste). Conocí personalidades, conocí a Stuart...

Vevers ha conseguido algo que a mi parecer no era fácil. Posicionar de nuevo una marca que estaba muy perdida, no sabía quién era e iba dando tumbos temporada tras temporada, probando y equivocándose mucho, sin saber muy bien qué hacer ni a quién dirigirse.
Ha cogido lo clásico, lo castizo, lo aristocrático de la marca (que en sus orígenes se hizo grande por proveer a la Casa Real allá por el siglo XIX) y le ha dado un brochazo de modernidad. Y digo brochazo porque sus cambios radican básicamente en el color. Manteniendo sus formas (Amazona) ha sabido darle una vuelta a la tuerca para hacer sus productos tan deseables como lo son ahora. Los colores... muy apetecibles. Las campañas de publicidad, geniales. Los prints, atrevidos.

En fin, veo las fotos y me entra morriña... Es cierto que me pasé mucho tiempo entre cocodrilo y zorro muerto, (toqué cosas tan extrañas como la piel de foca) pero dejando sacrificios a un lado, fue una experiencia ciertamente inolvidable que no cambiaría por nada.

As a vegetarian I am against the use of leather, but I have to admit that working for Loewe left me with a romantic idea of the label.

I see the pictures and I hanker those times... It is true that I spent a long time between crocodiles and dead fox (touched such strange things as the sealskin) but leaving aside sacrifices, it was a certainly unforgettable experience that I wouldn’t be able to trade for anything.

Porque el diseño no se queda en la ropa y accesorios que utilizamos diariamente, ni tampoco en la marca de nuestros muebles o las fundas de nuestros cojines, hay que resaltar no solo diseñadores de moda, interioristas o diseñadores de producto, sino también a los diseñadores de otros campos menos conocidos pero no por eso de menor importancia.

David Carrera Dios es un buen ejemplo. Este diseñador vigués es director de logística de una importante empresa gallega de automoción y un referente del diseño logístico. En su haber cuenta con un amplio portfolio en el que pueden encontrarse desde plantas industriales hasta peluquerías, pasando por almacenes y bodegas vinícolas.

Carrera Dios es consciente de que por desgracia en nuestro país su campo es poco reconocido a nivel artístico pero resalta que existe una demanda creciente por parte de las empresas que buscan maximizar la producción a la vez que cuidar la estética de sus espacios.

Bar Flamingo situado en el Puerto de Vigo en el que se buscaba un concepto de integración del edificio con el mar sacando la máxima rentabilidad de un espacio muy limitado sin descuidar la estética del local.

En palabras de David; “Las empresas buscan diseños que vayan ligados a la producción, cosa que te sujeta mucho más a la hora de introducir conceptos artísticos pero que realmente activa tu mente para ser más creativo. La clave del éxito en este campo es ser capaz de aplicar tus conocimientos sobre diseño sin olvidar la actividad a la que se dedica cada espacio. Aumentar la producción y ganar tiempo se traduce en un aumento de los márgenes de ganancia . Realizar esto desde una perspectiva artística es inusual en plantas industriales pero cada vez se está cuidando más.

Las plantas industriales ya no son cuatro paredes que encierran máquinas y trabajadores. Algunas se convierten en un espectáculo, en una conexión entre lo artístico y lo productivo que es digno de reconocimiento.”

City of Magic

Yesterday we had a beautiful night in Madrid...

I was walking to my roller skating class in El Retiro when I took this picture. I was just wearing knee length shorts and a light pullover and the weather was perfect. Not warm, not cold.

It was about 8 pm and the sun was suddenly gone. I was in the middle of this wonderful city but felt as If I were in a chanted forest. Everything was so still, the romantic yellowish lights in every corner. There was a gentle breeze that ran through the trees, it felt fresh and alive. It made me feel happy for what I am and what I have, and for what I know that’s about to come. I believe in a magic and wonderful future, and that makes my present be magic also.

Please, If you ever have the opportunity don’t doubt to visit this city. Its a city of light and blue sky during the day that becomes magical and full of shades when the night comes. You can meet anyone here. This city will always surprise you. Palaces, beautiful old buildings, botanical gardens and cobbled streets have a million secrets waiting for you to discover them and enchant you a little more every day.

I know that time for bathing is gone but I just love the colors of these pics.

Today is really cloudy in Madrid (what is weird here even during winter) and we all know that autumn is becoming a reality. Leaves in El Retiro are a mixture between yellow and brownish and the air is cooler. The sun leaves us earlier every day and you need electric light at 8 pm, when sunlight lasts until 10 pm during summer.

We start to see the kids with their school uniform again and the camel trench is once again a neighbour in this city.

Welcome autumn!

Maybe cuz its my bday this month, maybe because I love changes.
I do not know really why I like autumn so much. I remember how my mom used to take me shopping to Palma (Mallorca) for my school bag, my school books and school uniform. How everything smelt new and funny. How we started classes each year hoping for new kids in our class or meeting our friends and classmates again. Do not know why it is, probably a mixture of everything, but I just love autunm.

beautiful home

I would love to have a home like this one some day. I love living in the city but also living in the middle of anywhere. I like the tree branches sticking in my windows and I imagine how peaceful and graceful would a grey or stormy day be in this home. With little candles and indirect light lamps around the room, reading a good book and listening to soft music, with a cup of tea, chocolate, wine or whatever you prefer... I just love the idea.

Este finde va a ser el primero desde junio que tengo oportunidad de quedarme descansando en casa, en Madrid... Aprovecharé para recolocar el salón, pintar alguna pared de marrón y de cuidar de mi gatito recién adoptado, Roberto.

Tenía ya ganas de un finde tan ligero. No aviones. No autopistas. Solo una camita y quizá algo de la maravillosa vida nocturna del verano madrileño.
